With the culmination of the first leg of the Kenya Women Premier League (KWPL) 2023-2024 season coming this weekend, three fixtures are scheduled to take center stage across different stadiums in the country.
Having scored the fastest goal of the season in their last match, veteran striker Puren Alukwe will be seeking to continue her goal-scoring spree as she leads her team Kenya Police Bullets to hunt points against Nakuru City Queens.
A win for the women in uniform will be vital as they seek to close the gap against defending champions Vihiga Queens FC, who are currently unbeaten after 10 matches with 24 points on top of the table. A win for Kenya Police Bullets FC will see them move closer to the top with 22 points, resting their hopes for a promising competitive second leg as they seek their first-ever KWPL title.
On the other hand, third-placed Ulinzi Starlets FC who have 18 points will also be seeking to close on the top gap as they seek a vital win away against Bungoma Queens FC at Sudi Stadium. The other match of the weekend will see debutants Soccer Assasins host Gatundu-based Gaspo Women Fc at Mumboha grounds.
The weekend fixtures, all to be held on Sunday, 14th January, will bring to an end the first leg of this season’s KWPL.
